About
Spectra's Apex HSR systems are full-body PEMF systems designed for home and professional use, with adjustable programming and optional targeted applicators.
Spectra PEMF — Apex HSR & Apex HSR Pro
Spectra PEMF is for the buyer who's moved past the “Do I want a PEMF mat?” stage and has started asking harder questions about what the mat is actually producing.
The company currently has two main systems: the Apex HSR, starting at $4,490, and the Apex HSR Pro, starting at $5,490.
These are substantial full-body PEMF systems rather than the softer infrared-and-gemstone mats you'll find elsewhere in this directory. The standard Apex HSR consists of three connected cushions, each containing a large magnetic coil and connecting to a separate controller.
The result is something that can work at home but is also designed for repeated professional use in clinics, wellness centres, gyms and spas.
Apex HSR
The Apex HSR is the simpler of Spectra's two systems, although “simple” is relative here.
You get three 24 x 24-inch cushions that connect to create a 72-inch full-body mat, along with a three-channel controller and 5-inch touchscreen.
There are four ready-made programs and space to create one custom protocol.
Spectra also publishes considerably more technical information than many consumer PEMF companies. The current Apex HSR specifications list a frequency range of 0.01–100 Hz, intensity of 1–24 gauss for the mat and a published slew rate of 24 Tesla per second.
If those numbers mean absolutely nothing to you, that's okay.
The practical takeaway is that Spectra has built the Apex around stronger output and considerably more control than you'd normally find in a basic home wellness mat.
At $4,490, you're paying accordingly.
Apex HSR Pro
The Pro uses the same core PEMF technology but gives you more ways to configure it.
You get four channels instead of three, a larger 7-inch touchscreen, six curated programs rather than four and room for five custom protocols instead of one.
That fourth channel is more useful than it initially sounds.
The standard full-body setup uses three cushions. With the Pro, you can add a fourth cushion for someone taller than six feet, connect other compatible attachments or create configurations for more than one person.
There's also an optional far-infrared version of the Pro if you want heat incorporated into the cushions.
The Pro currently starts at $5,490.
So there's a $1,000 question to answer: do you actually need it?
For many people using PEMF at home, perhaps not. If three cushions give you the coverage you need and you're happy with four programs and one custom protocol, the regular Apex HSR may be enough.
If you're buying for a wellness business, want more configurations or simply want more control over the system, the Pro starts to make considerably more sense.
Full-Body or Targeted PEMF
The mat isn't the only way to use an Apex system.
Spectra also sells a Ring Attachment for more localized use and a smaller Mini Mat. The Pro can also take an additional Cushion Attachment.
That gives you the option of using the system as a full-body mat most of the time while having smaller applicators available when you want them.
The Ring currently costs $495, while the Mini Mat is $990.
They're optional rather than included in the standard Apex HSR price, so keep that in mind when comparing Spectra with another system that bundles several applicators together.
What Is Slew Rate?
You'll encounter the phrase slew rate very quickly when researching Spectra.
In simple terms, it describes how quickly the magnetic field changes.
Spectra puts a lot of emphasis on this measurement and has conducted its own testing of the Apex against other full-body PEMF systems.
That's useful information, but we'd make an important distinction here: the performance comparisons and claims about the importance of slew rate come from Spectra itself.
We wouldn't assume that a higher number automatically means a particular machine will produce a better health outcome for you.
What we do like is the transparency.
If you're spending $4,000 or $5,000 on PEMF equipment and you're the kind of buyer who wants to compare frequency, intensity, waveform, coil coverage and other technical specifications, Spectra gives you plenty to investigate.
Why Are People Researching Spectra?
Like most PEMF companies, Spectra talks about its equipment in connection with a broad range of wellness goals.
That includes things such as recovery, physical performance, relaxation, sleep, circulation and general wellness.
Spectra has also published educational material discussing PEMF and pain relief, inflammation, bone health and cellular health.
More unusually, it has published specific information about PEMF and ADHD and PEMF and autism.
Those are subjects people are searching for, and we're going to cover them separately because they deserve considerably more explanation than a product listing can provide.
It's particularly important to distinguish between research into different forms of electromagnetic or non-invasive brain stimulation and evidence showing that a particular consumer or full-body PEMF system will improve a neurodevelopmental condition.
We don't claim that the Apex HSR treats autism or ADHD.
If those topics are part of the reason you're researching PEMF, start with the evidence rather than the product claims.

Home or Professional?
Spectra genuinely sits in both camps.
The Apex HSR is quite easy to imagine in someone's home. You assemble the three cushions into a full-body mat, and the touchscreen handles the programming.
But Spectra also specifically designs and markets the systems for professional environments.
The Pro is the one we'd look at first for a business.
Four channels give you more configuration possibilities, there are more saved programs, and the system can accommodate additional cushions and applicators.
For a clinic or wellness business, those differences could matter far more than they would for one person using the system at home.
What Does Spectra PEMF Cost?
The starting prices are fairly straightforward:
Apex HSR — $4,490
Apex HSR Pro — $5,490
Optional attachments add to the total.
Ring Attachment — $495
Mini Mat — $990
Additional Pro Cushion — $695
Spectra also currently offers financing options.
This puts the Apex well above the consumer PEMF mats from companies such as HigherDOSE, HealthyLine and CurrentBody.
But it also sits below some of the professional equipment we've looked at from companies such as MagnaWave, where systems can move well into five figures.
That's an interesting place in the market.
Prices, packages and financing can change, so always check the official Spectra website for current pricing before purchasing.
Returns and Warranty
This is one area we'd read carefully before ordering.
Spectra currently has a 30-day return window, but this isn't really a 30-day home trial. Products need to remain in like-new condition, and tamper seals on the mats and controller can't be broken if you want the product to remain eligible for return.
Approved returns are also subject to a 10% return charge, with shipping costs excluded.
That's significant on a purchase of this size.
On the other hand, Spectra's current dedicated warranty covers its PEMF systems for four years against defects in materials and workmanship.
Before ordering, we'd check both policies again directly with Spectra so you know exactly what applies to the system you're buying.
Spectra vs. Consumer PEMF Mats
Spectra isn't really a direct substitute for a $700 or $1,000 infrared PEMF mat.
If what you want is something warm and comfortable that you can roll out in the evening, HealthyLine or HigherDOSE may be closer to what you have in mind.
Spectra starts to become interesting when the PEMF equipment itself is the priority.
You're getting a dedicated controller, large individual coils, broader frequency and intensity control, published technical specifications and the ability to add localized applicators.
You're also spending several thousand dollars more to get them.
That's the trade-off.
Spectra vs. Higher-End PEMF Systems
At the other end, Spectra gives us an interesting middle ground.
The Apex HSR starts at $4,490. That's considerably more than most consumer mats but still well below many of the high-end professional systems in this directory.
Curatronic offers a much larger collection of home and clinical equipment.
Swiss Bionic's iMRS prime takes another modular approach.
MagnaWave moves much further into professional, equine and practitioner equipment, with some systems costing tens of thousands of dollars.
Spectra's proposition is somewhat easier to understand: a serious full-body PEMF system that can work at home but has enough capability for professional use as well.
For the right buyer, that middle ground may be exactly the point.
Who Is Spectra PEMF Best For?
We'd look at Spectra if you're prepared to spend several thousand dollars and want something more substantial than a typical consumer PEMF mat.
The Apex HSR is the one we'd investigate first for home use.
The Apex HSR Pro makes more sense if you're buying for a clinic or wellness business, need the fourth cushion, want additional custom programs or expect to expand the system with attachments.
Spectra is also worth looking at if you're the type of buyer who wants to see technical specifications before spending this much money.
There's plenty here to compare.
When We'd Look Elsewhere
If your budget is around $500–$1,500, there are much more affordable PEMF mats in this directory.
If infrared heat, gemstones and a more spa-like experience are what attracted you to PEMF, Spectra may also feel more clinical than you want.
And if you're building a larger professional practice and want an extensive collection of specialized applicators and higher-end equipment, we'd compare Spectra with MagnaWave, Curatronic and Swiss Bionic before deciding.
Spectra occupies an interesting space between those two worlds.
A Word About Health Claims
Spectra makes strong claims about PEMF, its engineering and the potential effects of its systems.
We don't independently claim that the Apex HSR will treat pain, heal an injury, improve circulation, treat ADHD or autism, or diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
That's particularly important with subjects such as ADHD and autism. A manufacturer's discussion of research is not the same thing as evidence that its particular PEMF machine is an established treatment.
Our focus is on helping you understand the equipment: what it does, what it costs, how it's built and how it compares with other PEMF systems.
If you're considering PEMF because of a medical or neurodevelopmental condition, discuss it with an appropriate healthcare professional before purchasing or using a system.
